January 2006 Jim Pennington is named as new President and Chief Executive Officer upon the retirement of Jack Williams.
October 2005 In response to nationwide growth, HCE changes its name to NEXT care management, and offers a comprehensive suite of Care Management services.
December 2004 ppoNEXT provides access to Centers of Excellence, via a partnership with United Resource Networks , a specialized health care services company of UnitedHealth Group. United Resource Networks offers a broad range of specialized health care management solutions, including Transplant Resource Services and Cancer Resource Services.
September 2004 ppoNEXT and HCE enter a strategic partnership with Patient InfoSystems, a leading healthcare solutions company, to provide Disease Management services.
August 2004 ppoNEXT subsidiary, Health Care Evaluation (HCE) achieves full URAC accreditation.
June 2002 ppoNEXT launches new, state-of-the-art web site to enhance services and on-line interaction with its customers, members, medical providers and other visitors.
March 2002 ppoNEXT acquires PPO of MasterCare, Inc. The acquisition includes contracts with 22,000 physicians, 170 hospitals and 3,000 ancillary facilities in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and eastern Pennsylvania and includes both health benefit and workers' compensation products. The acquisition also includes a customer list of large third-party health benefit administrators and major municipalities in New Jersey.
February 2001 ppoNEXT acquires MedicalControl Network Solutions Inc. of Dallas and Houston Healthcare Purchasing Organization (HHPO) of Houston. The additions expand the ppoNEXT provider network and membership coverage throughout Texas and New Mexico.
December 2000 Beyond Benefits changes it name to ppoNEXT to better reflect its business strategy-focused on delivering world-class PPO products and services to group health, workers' compensation, auto medical and other medical insurance payors.
April 2000 Beyond Benefits acquires Chicago-based HealthStar, Inc., one of the nation's largest PPOs, from HealthStar Corp., with the goal of creating one of the largest independently held PPO companies. Both companies continue to operate under their own company names-as wholly owned subsidiaries of Beyond Benefits. The comprehensive national network now includes direct contracts with more than 3,000 hospitals and 300,000 physicians.
October 1999 Beyond Benefits acquires the assets and client base of Health Care Evaluation, Inc. (HCE), a Stockton, California, company that provides nationwide utilization management, case management, claims review and hospital bill audit services for health plan clients. Its clients include Taft-Hartley Trust Funds, school districts, county governments, provider networks, and third-party administrators.
May 1999 Beyond Benefits acquires Preferred Health Network, Inc., of Irvine, California, from Foundation Health Systems, Inc. The PHN PPO network, founded in 1982, is comprised of 1,811 hospitals, 69,270 primary care physicians and 162,145 specialists and serves more than 4 million individuals throughout the U.S.
May 1999 Beyond Benefits is founded.
